Our Mission

The story goes that the fox knows many little things, and the hedgehog knows one big thing. The moral, as it’s usually told, is to be like the fox: flexible; diversified; ready for anything. But we say the savvy hedgehog isn’t afraid to burrow deeply into its passions, and if it ends up knowing several big things, a few medium things, one gigantic thing, and some small stuff, it’ll be both savvy and satisfied.

We want to help you be a savvy hedgehog.

Our Story

We started SavvyHedgehog in 2021 upon returning from a backpacking trip and realizing that everything we had just devoured about backpacking was stuck in our heads. We needed to write it all down to remember it, and we decided to do it in front of the whole world.

We hope you learn something here, and whenever you know more or better than we do, we hope you'll get in touch and teach us something too.

About Us

We are Jerry and Meera Towler, roboticists and adventurers.

Meera has been traveling the world with her family since she was tiny, and she has no intention of stopping any time soon.

Jerry left the United States exactly once before he graduated from college—but he’s been working to catch up since then.

Between us, we’ve visited 31 states and 17 countries on four continents, and we’re always eager to add more to that list.
